Holiday fun: Festival of Trees

We’re excited – this is our second year participating in the annual Festival of Trees!

What is The Festival of Trees?

It was started in Vancouver 30 years ago to raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and has grown in several communities in the years since. All monies raised from sponsorship of the trees will be in support of the BC Children’s Hospital.  You can find more information about it here.

And you can find more info about the local event, including where to view the trees,  here

2017 Santa Pics

Here at Royal LePage South Country we spend a couple of hours every Christmas hosting Santa Claus, so he can spend some time with the local kids. Proud parents get to trade a small donation to the Food Bank for a photo session with the big guy!

The SOAP Theatre presents:

Since You Left Us

When: 7:30pm-9:45pm
Where: Frank Venables Theatres

About: There’s dysfunctional and there’s really, really dysfunctional.  The family in Since You Left Us is one of the latter: shot through with alcoholism, bad parenting, sibling rivalry and unhealthy co-dependency (with a Jack Russell Terrier named…Jack).

Since You Left Us is laugh-out-loud funny until the end when something is revealed that suddenly makes the play profoundly poignant.  Since You Left Us has all the hallmarks of a farce, complete with its over-the-top characters and the ridiculous situations they find themselves in.  Vancouver playwright Susinn McFarlen shows her ample skills by giving us so much more than a simple silly romp.

New Residents Aren’t Always Informed

residentsIf your condo building happens to have a significant influx of new residents, you may have witnessed situations where they’ve lacked knowledge of basic condo rules and procedures. From balcony etiquette and parking access, to recycling practices, inappropriate behaviour can become frustrating for established residents.

But, before you conclude that your new neighbours are thoughtless, consider whether they have been properly informed. They may not even know whom to ask when they are uncertain. As a condo owner, you have a right to insist that new residents get properly briefed with essential information. If you are convinced that this isn’t happening, approach your board and form a committee to hold personal orientation sessions for all new residents, ideally within their first few days of arrival.

Orientations don’t have to be onerous – consider a casual social gathering, with introductions to other residents and a “mentor adoption” plan to connect newcomers with someone to call in case of questions.
