Oliver:
The Wine Capital of Canada

Oliver

Nestled in the beautiful South Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Oliver offers visitors and residents alike, a distinct blend of agriculture, outdoor recreation and quality vineyards along with a vibrant and friendly downtown core. With over 2000 hours of annual sunshine, Oliver boasts over 400 farms and 102 vineyards with more being planted every year. From “vine to wine” the region produces more than a third of BC's wines and supplies quality local produce readily available at farmers' markets and roadside fruit stands.

Oliver is a nature lovers' paradise. Tucked into the northern most point of the Great Basin Desert, Oliver provides a diverse landscape and a wealth of activities year round. Enjoy swimming, windsurfing, fishing or canoeing on Tuc El Nuit lake, a day of skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing at nearby Mt. Baldy, play a round of golf at one of the two Championship golf courses, or revel in the beautiful rugged terrain by hiking or biking one of the many trails. If you are an avid bird watcher, Oliver presents a variety of accessible terrain from dry desert sage to sub alpine tundra.

In addition to Oliver's many natural amenities, newcomers to the town comment on the friendliness of the local residents. Oliver embraces its agricultural roots and revels in its small town atmosphere. The downtown boasts quaint shops and tasty eateries, heritage buildings and beautiful parks.

And, the Parks and Recreational amenities in Oliver are second to none for a community of its size. Ball diamonds, soccer fields, ice arena, curling arena, bocce pits, tennis courts, lawn bowling are all available at the Community Centre. A children's water park, town-owned RV park, and plentiful green spaces throughout the community compliment the healthy lifestyle of the South Okanagan.

Locals also enjoy a full range of social and service organizations and a vibrant arts community. The Quails Nest Art Centre is the home of the Oliver Arts Council with many member organizations from quilting and weaving, to painting to performing arts. Several local choirs provide choral entertainment and the South Okanagan Concert Society brings several world class performers to Oliver every year. Other concerts and festivals are held throughout the year in the community and at nearby wineries.
